space of three months, has devastated the world!
From Seoul to Milan, streets have been turned lone paths; parks are vacant and schools shuttered!

Major sporting events across the globe has been suspended! Sportsmen and women have been affected! Doctors are dying; country leaders are not safe!
Even Trump had to
undergo a test!
Thousands of 'healthy'
citizens of the world have been cut off in their prime, yet no cure is near.
Our world has never
had it this bad...
Could this be the beginning of sorrow!
May God, in His mercy,
save our world!
Global Crisis, Social Changes and the
Technology of things
Possibly, no one
predicted coronavirus, but we know the world is definitely going to witness so
many social changes and uncertainties that would call for a change of guard for
survival.
Think of the
following:
Disease outbreak
Security
challenges
Macroeconomic
collapse
Religious crisis
and domination
Social crisis
Moral decadence
Space control
etc
I have always maintained that the current system we run is not sustainable. It's not all about coronavirus. There are so many other social changes that would force us to change our guard...
I have always known
this as an intuitive management scholar and a social analyst. I had predicted
that a time comes when parents would be forced to withdraw their wards from the
offline school system as a result of many social-economic ills that would
befall the world. Online classes would thrive.

All the foregoing
changes would affect businesses, employment, education etc. The most hit would
be education. And this is where our
interest lies in this discourse.
Coronavirus and its toll on education delivery
Schools are shutting
down (though temporarily) across the globe. This is part of the efforts to stem
the viral spread of this deadly virus.

Who loses when schools
are shut down?
- School owners?
- Teachers?
- Learners?
At the primary
level, school owners, teachers and learners lose.
At the secondary
level, the parents and the general public suffers the blow of a lengthy period
of shut down!
Learners
✔ Psychological
downturn
✔ Complete loss of interest
✔ Antisocial behaviour
that could lead to terminal losses.
School owners
✔ No parent pays
tuition when schools are shut down as a result of social crisis.
✔ Many of your learners
who leave during the shut would never return. Parents would start planning for
alternative options.
Teachers
✔ No school owner pays
you when schools are shut down for a long period.
✔ Such social crisis
would affect employment even in other sectors, making it hard for you to
'switch over'
Our Greatest Problem in Africa: Docility
There is this feeling
around- 'nothing dey happen'! 'We dey kamkpe' 'God loves the blacks'
You could see that
false feeling all around us.
No plan! No campaign!
No sensitization program among educators and learners! No plan B!
Let me tell you...
If Coronavirus
hits us, schools would be completely shut down. Not only that, there would be no
home lesson as well.
Aside
Coronavirus, High level insecurity is imminent. It's going to be so much
that school buses would be waylaid, students hostels burgled etc.
Parents would be so
afraid to send their wards to school.
The imminent
macroeconomic collapse would have a devastating effects on parents too...
At last!
Parents would seek for
alternative means of educating their children. That's when the cookie
would get crumbled!
Many schools would
shut down permanently!
Many teachers would
turn beggars!
And this can only happen
because we cared little about problem solving in times of crisis.
What's the only sustainable solution?
THE TECHNOLOGY OF THINGS
For those in business,
it's called online business, ecommerce, emarketing, digital wealth creation
etc.
For those in
education, it is called edtech , digital literacy , e-learning , tech-driven
education, online classes etc
If these social crisis continue...
- · No one visits the offline market, everyone
would order online.

Everyone would learn online.

How prepared are you

Of course, this is not
time to *panic*! But time to *plan*!

Global Report: Taking Proactive Measures in
the face of Sudden Changes
This is a report from
one of the universities in China, in response to the Coronavirus outbreak:
Tsinghua University,
rather than wait for the epidemic to end, decided to shift all its courses
online.
In what is the first
time in history that an elite, traditional, campus-based university has moved classes
totally online, the faculty members deliver their lectures or teaching through
an online learning platform – the Rain Classroom – and video
conference platforms and have tried out many different technologies to enable
better interaction with students.
So far the entire online
teaching programme has gone smoothly, thanks to the enormous efforts of every
stakeholder, ie, the university leadership, faculty members, staff and
students.
Further reports
revealed that both teachers and students are enjoying the entire new way of teaching and learning!
You heard it! They're not waiting for the epidemic to end.They simply discovered a better route and run along.
Here in Africa, we are
probably waiting for these social crisis to hit us hard before we take a
decisive move!
We are not being
proactive. And that's not good enough.
With these free tools and a functional online class, get all your teachers and students enrolled.
Start using the class
minimally so that parents can appreciate them.
In that case, in the
event of any disruption in the system as a result of any social crisis, you can
assure parents that nothing is lost, since online class is not affected. At such, no parents
withdraws a child or refuses to pay for tuition.

being proactive'!

Whether it's

Don't allow parents to

Should that happen, you would be losing those parents and a huge student
population.
If you fail to embrace
*edtech* now, you would lose many of your tech savvy educators who would finally
find out that they stand a better chance working for themselves rather than
working for you.
